Georgia manufacturing plant to employ 100 people

Interroll will be opening a new manufacturing plant in Georgia.

Interroll, a German-based manufacturer, will be opening a new manufacturing facility in Georgia in March. The new 100,000-square-foot facility will be responsible for creating modules, subsystems and dynamic storage compartments that will help the production of distribution facilities across the country.

The facility, which will be located in Hiram, Ga., will hire around 40 people once the plant opens with hopes of expanding to 100 employees in the future. Tim McGill, Interroll's president of North and South American operations, said in a statement the company is expecting the new manufacturing facility will boost the U.S. manufacturing industry.

"Interroll is extremely proud of its new manufacturing and showroom facility, which will make Interroll even faster and more flexible in serving customers throughout North and South America," McGill said. "The investment reinforces our commitment to this key strategic market and will enhance overall customer satisfaction for all of our key customer groups."

Matthew Patterson, director of supply chain and advanced manufacturing at the Metro Atlanta Chamber, said in a statement Interroll will also benefit the local economy.

"Interroll's commitment to bring its first U.S. manufacturing presence to metro Atlanta and Paulding County is a significant recognition of Atlanta's worldwide logistics ranking and our superior supply chain infrastructure," Patterson said.

The Georgia manufacturing industry has seen vast improvements over the last few months, according to the Econometric Center at Kennesaw State University's Michael J. Coles College of Business. The Georgia Purchasing Manager Index (PMI) in February was 56.7, a 6.7 point increase from January's figure. A reading of over 50 indicates growth in the manufacturing industry. The report pointed to an increase in new orders and a push in production for the PMI to jump over the past month.
