Interstate Warehousing plans to expand its Hamilton, Ohio location

Interstate Warehousing is expanding its Hamilton, Oh. cold storage facility.

A cold storage facility in Hamilton, Ohio, owned by Interstate Warehousing is getting a $3.1 million upgrade. Interstate Warehousing will renovate its office space and 13.9 million-cubic-feet warehouse area at its 110 Distribution Drive location. The company will also redo its employee parking lot, truck entrance with a guardhouse and add on more trailer staging space.

Interstate Warehousing has eight cold storage warehouses located across the U.S., and according to the companies website, this location is one of the largest. The Hamilton facility has 82 dock doors for loading trucks and assembles nearly 50,000 orders every year.

The renovations to the 110 Distribution Drive location come on the company's 20th anniversary and only a three years after the company completed a $14 million expansion at the facility. The location was also received level 2 Safe Quality Foods Certification from the Safe Quality Food Institute in January, according to the company's website.

Since the 2011 expansion, Interstate Warehousing has added 90 jobs, raising their total workforce to 186 workers at the Hamilton facility. The new renovations are projected to create 25 new jobs.

Construction on the current project is dependent on local and state financial incentives, but should begin soon, according to the company's spokesperson Mark Wolf. Once the renovations begin, they should take three to four months to finish, Wolf stated.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 40 percent, seven-year tax credit abatement incentive for the company. To receive the credit estimated to be worth approximately $219,000, the company must create $900,000 in new annual payroll and maintain its facility in Hamilton for at least 10 years.

Businesses expanding their operations and looking for skilled workers should partner with operations and manufacturing recruiters. Companies can let recruiters focus on finding the most qualified applicants while they focus on other matters.
