Plastic Omnium Auto Exteriors to establish Chattanooga, Tennessee facility

Plastic Omnium Auto Exteriors is opening a new facility in Tennessee.

French company Plastic Omnium Auto Exteriors is building a new facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which will supply the nearby Volkswagen plant, according to Automotive Business Review. The company manufactures plastic parts for vehicles such as bumpers, fenders and body panes.

Plastic Omnium is a global company with 110 plants located throughout 30 countries. This newest plant will be located on 21 acres of land in the Enterprise South Industrial Park, according to ABR. While Plastic Omnium will supply only Volkswagen at first, the company plans to branch out and manufacture parts for Ford, GM, Honda and other vehicle manufacturers, ABR reported.

"Plastic Omnium is another success that validates our investment in Enterprise South," Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger said. "We've proven we're an outstanding manufacturing location with a well-prepared workforce."

The new facility will be fully operational in 2015 and will create 184 initially, according to The Chattanoogan. The company plans to expand its workforce to 300 in the next three years.

Businesses in the automotive industry should work with manufacturing recruiters to fill their new positions during expansions. Recruiters can find the most job candidates while the companies focus on locating and upgrading facilities.
